almost done

so, we're down to the end here.. i'll be heading back to ny in less than a week.
for the last few weeks, we've basically just been doing our internships. last week i was lucky enough to meet up with mimi, aunt sue, and uncle al. it was mimi's first time out here and it sounds like they all had a great time. we went out to a luau in kona to celebrate my birthday a little early and enjoyed a beautiful kona sunset. the next day we succeeded in getting mimi out in a kayak and went snorkelling in kealekekua bay and had a pretty amazing time.





that night we went out on the town in kona to celebrate suzanne's birthday and enjoyed a wonderful denny's breakfast the next morning. this past weekend, we spent a day and a half preparing and pounding taro to make poi and laulau for our big end of semester 'pa'ina'. we made lots of crazy food, and unfortunately we got so much rain that day that there was flash flooding so not that many people could come, but it was fun and we have lots of leftovers. it was crazy because we each presented some pictures or video clips from sometime in the summer and it made us all really reminiscent. we all have such mixed feelings now.. we're missing ny and are excited to go back, but at the same time there's so much we'll miss here.. especially the amazing beaches :) it'll be really interesting to come back in a few years and see the island again. people are always talking about how much the island's getting built up.. all these resorts and developments being built.. i wonder what it'll be like next time i come back...
